It is worth checking the rest of the site before contacting us, as we have tried to answer the most frequent queries, especially in FAQs, Sponsorship and Catalogue. For any queries on your bat, especially regarding repairs or damage, then please go to Bat Care for advice (do not panic, just take the bat back to your stockist or us as soon as possible). For anything urgent we do recommend phoning as the volume of emails we receive means that we cannot reply instantly.
Visiting the workshop
To find a range of bats ready to purchase, please see the specialist cricket shops who stock Salix, but to take advantage of our bat fitting service by coming into the workshop directly, we are open on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12noon between 7th March and 26th September 2009.
The Saturday mornings enable you to purchase a bespoke Salix bat. As we are constantly manufacturing to fulfill our stockists’ orders, we never have spare finished bats except for a handful of factory seconds*. So when you visit here, you will enter a manufacturing workshop. Bats are selected from partmade blades or fitted clefts and initial shaping is carried out (at the bench and through sanding) whilst you are here in order to achieve the core specification. The bat will then remain with us for further sanding and finishing processes, to be collected or sent on in 5-10 working days after the fitting. It is a system which is very hard to explain, and although we do get busy, works very well as the end result is a bat made in collaboration with the player so it is truly bespoke. Equipment is available for selection and advice, with most people doing this whilst waiting for their bat fitting.
We do not make appointments, but see everyone first come, first served. We open the workshop up at 9am, as although we are here much earlier, are still working until the moment the door opens. Please feel free to come into the yard to park and we will open up as soon as the workshop is ready for visitors.
* we have a selection of factory seconds, bats which have been graded out from shop orders and are reduced in price. These are available to view at the workshop, but if you wish to find out more, please telephone and we will talk you through the current stock.
How to find us….
By car we are about 5 minutes from Junction 8 of the M20 (some distance from Maidstone, so do not go into the town). Do check the News Page before setting off just in case:
From London/M25: take the M20 towards Maidstone / Channel Tunnel
From Dover/Channel Tunnel: take the M20 towards Maidstone / London
From the motorway, take exit number 8 for Leeds Castle, Lenham and Maidstone East (services incl. Tourist Information & cashpoints on this junction)
Follow all the signs for Leeds Castle (A20 then B2163)
Drive past the Castle entrance (on your left)
Continue straight on up through Leeds Village on the B2163/Leeds Road (going past a Church, a School, The George pub…)
Continue straight out of the village, up the hill and look out for the Ten Bells pub on your left.
Continue straight on for approximately 1 mile until you see a village sign for LANGLEY on your left.
Take the next right onto Horseshoes Lane.
After approximately a quarter of a mile you will pass a playing field on your right. Shortly afterwards you will see black farm gates - Butlers Farm.
We are in the first two buildings as you enter the yard. There is plenty of parking through the next double gates.
Please take care to enter the reception and pay attention to the no entry and no smoking signs on the factory doors. Thank you.
By train the closest station is Bearsted which is a 5-10 minute taxi ride from Langley (the quickest route is onto the A20 then right onto Caring Lane which comes out on Horseshoes Lane).
